Thank you to all who came out for our July meeting! Our presentation was on US Presidential campaign tokens, which were in wide use starting in 1824 until the early 20th century when they were slowly phased out in favor of cheaper (and more colorful!) buttons and stickers. Some of the messages are quite... interesting, including the piece pictured here from Herbert Hoover's failed re-election bid in 1932 in the middle of the Great Depression which started during his term.
In August the topic will be local paper money, likely with a focus on National Bank Notes. Delaware has an interesting (if somewhat esoteric) numismatic history and we are fortunate to have experts among our members. As always, Show and Tell items do not need to fit the theme - bring whatever interests you! We're looking forward to seeing everyone on August 8th at 7:30PM at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover.
